Theta Sorority House SMU

Collegiate Housing
A NEW CONSTRUCTION IN DALLAS, TEXAS

Home Design Dallas

Surrounded by stately Georgian buildings among a beautifully landscaped campus at Southern Methodist University, the women of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority elected to replace their 1951 residence with a new sorority house capable of housing additional members. Overcoming the hardships of being the smallest and most unique in shape of all Greek Housing properties on campus, this Sorority House boards 40 chapter members, a live-in House Director, dining room seating 200, chapter room seating 200, commercial kitchen and a “Heritage” Library dedicated to local alumni and former first lady Laura Welch Bush. Care was taken to design a structure and grounds that met the sorority’s residential and institutional needs. Classical proportions and period authentic detailing tie the project back to the SMU campus while being conducive to a contemporary lifestyle.
